PLAIN-LANGUAGE GLOSSARY

The words you will see, explained.

A short guide to the terms used in IUUReady and fish-import document preparation. These explanations help you use the tool; current official guidance defines the requirements for your shipment.

IUU
Illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. These are categories of fishing activity that breaks rules, is not reported properly, or is inconsistent with the conservation arrangements that apply.
Consignment
The shipment you are reviewing. In IUUReady, a consignment keeps that shipment's details and documents together.
Catch certificate
A document used in the official process to establish the legality of a catch. Whether you need one depends on the goods and movement; IUUReady does not issue or validate it.
Preflight
A document check before submission. IUUReady compares selected details to help you find questions to resolve before you or your agent files the paperwork.
Document extraction
Reading a file into fields such as a reference number, species description or weight. The reading can be incomplete or wrong, so check the original.
Net weight
The weight of the product without its packaging. Compare net weights with net weights, and check that units and product lines agree.
Packing list
The supplier's description of what is packed in the shipment. It can help you compare the goods and quantities with the invoice.
IPAFFS
The UK government's Import of Products, Animals, Food and Feed System. The importer or agent uses it for the applicable import notification; IUUReady does not submit to it.
Port Health
Authorities involved in relevant import checks at the point of entry. A result in IUUReady is separate from any official authority decision.
Workspace
Your organization's area in IUUReady. It holds shipment details, private documents and review activity for colleagues with access.
Processing statement
Supporting documentation about processing and the relevant catches. Confirm whether it is required for your actual goods and route.
Review history
The documents, earlier versions and recorded review activity for a consignment. Records and exports remain accessible after a pilot ends, under the service-wide retention policy.
Finding
Something that needs checking. Open it to see the source evidence and available review actions.
Preflight complete
No unresolved findings remain under the currently applied IUUReady checks. It is separate from official clearance or legal eligibility.
Pilot
Approved access to evaluate the workflow. Standard limits are fourteen days, three consignments total and up to three seats; confirmed terms may vary.
